The Importance of Drinking Enough Water Every Day

Most of the human body is made up of water. This fluid helps regulate body temperature, aids digestion, lubricates the joints, and transports nutrients while removing metabolic waste through urine. That is why maintaining adequate fluid intake is an important part of a healthy lifestyle.

Everyone’s fluid needs differ depending on age, activity level, and weather conditions. In a tropical climate like Indonesia’s, the body loses fluid more easily through sweat. Signs of dehydration include thirst, a dry mouth, dark-colored urine, dizziness, and feeling weak.

To make it easier to meet your fluid needs, carry a water bottle wherever you go and drink gradually throughout the day. Choose plain water over sugary or carbonated drinks. Water-rich fruits and vegetables, such as watermelon and cucumber, can also help.

If you have kidney or heart disease, your fluid intake may need to be limited. Consult your doctor to find out the right amount for you.
